East Tisted Parish Council has responsibility for two areas of ground within the village:

  • the grassed area surrounding the village pond; and
  • the recreation outfield (NOT the cricket pitch) & playground area off the A32.

For this work the Parish Council has drawn up a ground maintenance contract which is awarded every three years.  It is due for renewal in early 2018.  The contract specifies to cut and strim all areas every two weeks during the period from Lady Day (25 March) through to Michaelmas (29 September). The contractor will provide the appropriate equipment and fuel for the job, remove all cuttings/debris and provide adequate public liability insurance.

Currently the contract has been divided into two parts:

the recreation ground outfield.  This has been granted to Rotherfield Park Cricket Club at a cost of £575 per annum; and

the pond area and playground.  This has been awarded to Brian Davey at a cost of £20 each per cut (£560 in 2015/16) with agreement that this may be supplemented by extra work on trees and playground equipment as and when required.

Member’s allowances
The Chairman is given an allowance annually at the APCM in May.  In May 2016 it was topped up by £15.99 to a total of £100.00 to use at his discretion.
